Hello Connie- I went on the Seanruad.com website and checked for anything that might be close to your Kilmackenny and here is what I found: ( the first field is townland, the second is Number of acres, the third is County, fourth is barony, fifth is civil parish, sixth is Poor law union, seventh is Province. Your Kilmacanty road must be where the townland is or was. I have a new-found cousin in Lurgan and she is helping me with information about our Markey family. Our family came from the townland of Drumnahuncheon in Loughgilly, County Armagh. I asked her about Drumnahuncheon and the correct spelling of it as I had also seen it spelled "Drumnahunshin", and here is what she said ( and I quote her) "We always thought the correct spelling of the townland was Drumnahuncheon. A number of years ago the townlands were shelved in favour of road names and numbers. Our address became 102 Tullyah Road. A lot of people continued to use the townland as their address in protest but it eventually became the norn to use the new address. In the old days the postman knew everyone and was able to deliver the post without a problem but now there could be a different postman every week and he wouldn't have a clue who was who. It was also better when there was more than one person of the same name in the same townland. Then they would have been known by a nickname." I would wager that you have the same case with your Kilmackenny! I hope this helps you!
