Hi List We are finally travelling to Lurgan in July to see what it is like but I would like to do a bit more research in preparation for when we get there and I was hoping for some advise on how I can get any further ! This is what I know so far:- My THOMAS ELLIOTT was born 28 April 1887 in Avenue Road, Lurgan - son of THOMAS ELLIOTT and MARY ANNA (nee DAWSON). I have his birth certificate. On his WWI record his religion was "Church of Ireland" His father, Thomas, was by 1911 described as a laundry manager. By 1911 he was living in HOVE, SUSSEX where he married Annie Muriel ASHWORTH from Dublin. This is what I'd like to find out 1) I'd like to find the family on the 1901 census I've looked on the transcribed 1901 census for Lurgan but unfortunately they are not living at Avenue Road anymore - I'm now starting to plough through the other streets as the search engine doesn't seem to be working! www.lurganancestry.net <http://www.lurganancestry.net/> This might give me any birth dates / names of siblings too. 2) I'd like to find a marriage certificate for THOMAS ELLIOTT & MARY ANNA DAWSON But I know Thomas was one of about 8 children and I think he was one of the oldest so their marriage was probably around 1885. 3) I'm presuming Church of Christ The Redeemer is the most probably church for the Elliott's to have attended in Lurgan? (records are in Proni) 4) There seem to be 4 Directories for Armagh which might give me a laundry for Lurgan.
