    1. [ARMAGH] McMurray - Smylie - Robertson(?)

    3. I am seeking help in obtaining information about an extended family that arrived in Montrose, Scotland between 1841 (census) and 1844 (marriage of one of them). The principal family name is McMURRAY. They are shown as being Irish born. One is shown as being from Armagh. William McMurray b. abt 1775, in Ireland, married Rebecca Smylie b. abt 1777, in Ireland. Her death certificate Montrose Mar. 23, 1859 indicates her father as Hugh Smylie (Ireland). A son, believed to be their youngest, Thomas McMurray, b. abt 1822 in Ireland (this is the one married in 1844 in Montrose, to a Scot). Another son, Robert McMurray, b. about 1815 in Ireland appears in the 1851 Montrose census. He appears with wife, Agnes, b. abt. 1816, in Ireland, and three children, William McMurray (age 16, b. abt 1835), Rebecca McMurray ( age 14, b. abt 1837), and Margaret McMurray (age 12, b. abt 1839) - all indicated as born in Ireland. Also appearing in the 1851 census is a sister-in-law (to the family head) Jane Robertson (?) age 16, also born in Ireland. . This would be a sister of Agnes, whose maiden name would be the same. The census taker's writing is excellent except for the surname of the sister-in-law - Robertson is best guess. I have tried the basic LDS resources, and I would very much appreciate any help or guidance that anyone can offer. Thomas is my wife's g-grandfather. A hopeful thank you in advance.
