I think my Jennings ancestors were flax farmers also. In a 1868 letter from Patrick Jennings (Co Armagh) to his brother William Jennings (USA) Patrick writes that it was very dry summer causing 'short corn, short flax and small potatoes' and mentions the cost of cut flour and cut oatmeal. In a 1872 letter he tells William they bought a 'farm of land' for 745 pounds. I do believe the family was Catholic. I don't know how to follow-up on any of this information. I don't have birth/death dates - only bits of information found in the letters. Any instructions are greatly appreciated.
