Thanks Vicki, I also found these, somewhere along the line, the names got all mixed up,I am sure that my Thomas John Boyd Willson and this John Byde Willson are one and the same but not sure how the names ended up being so different because the children are defiantly ours, infact Agnes is my husbands Great grandmother and William John Thomas is his great uncle, as the brother and sister married a brother and sister. thanks again Dianne Vicki Strickland wrote: > Hi Dianne, hope these help.... > > Digger - Pioneer Index. Hello Dianne, I research WILSON/WILLSON as well. Friends of mine visited PRONI a number of years ago and looked at church records for Co. Tyrone and Co. Armagh for me. We have given these records to the Co. Tyrone website at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~cotyroneireland/index.html You will find quite a number of records of Wilson/Willson from Drumcree and Portadown, Co. Armagh, as well as from Killyman in Co. Tyrone. You will find them in the list of resources under CHURCH RECORDS:- Killyman Baptisms Church of Ireland 1690-1898 Killyman Marriages Church of Ireland 1753-1844 Killyman Burials Church of Ireland 1776-1877 I noticed with some of my own Wilson family, the name was sometimes spelt Willson. These records are directly from the parish registers, so you can see that even the Curates sometimes mis-spelt the names. When you find the parents names of your ancestor this list may be of help to you. Bye for now Alma.........Brisbane. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dianne & Lyndon Wild" <wild13s@bigpond.net.au> To: <nir-armagh@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 20, 2007 10:49 PM Subject: Re: [ARMAGH] WILLSON > Thanks Vicki, I also found these, somewhere along the line, the names > got all mixed up,I am sure that my Thomas John Boyd Willson and this > John Byde Willson are one and the same but not sure how the names ended > up being so different because the children are defiantly ours, infact > Agnes is my husbands Great grandmother and William John Thomas is his > great uncle, as the brother and sister married a brother and sister. > thanks again > Dianne
Thank you Alma, I have just found out through hours and hours of searching that our Willson may not have come from Armagh at all but from Hertfordshire, it appears that there are conflicting places of birth on marriage certificates and death certificatesHis signature on the marriage certificate has two LL's in it so hopefully he was correct. His wife came from County Tyrone I will look at the website and see if anything there fits for us.
