I've been searching for my Great Grandfather's family from Portadown - his name was Thomas and he emigrated in the late 1880s to work the silk mills in Manchester, CT. I know much that happened to him once he came to CT but nothing of his life in Portadown. I do know that his nephew (I am assuming), James emigrated in 1892 and lived with Thomas and wife. He referred to them as his parents. Family story is that James Wilson's parents died and he had no family in Portadown to take him in. Any information you might have on Portadown Wilson's that I might be able to tie in would be appreciated. Thomas married Isabella Gilpin also from Portadown. Isabella had a brother Patrick who was still living in Portadown at the time of her death in 1915. Thanks and good luck. Laura.
