Hi folks, Time to remind newcomers (and some of the not-so-new subscribers) to our list some basic posting suggestions :- 1) If you are enquiring about a particular surname, put it the Subject line, typed in CAPS. The village or town name should be kept in lowercase (except for its first letter, of course) 2) This convention should continue in the body of the message - SURNAMES, CAPS - Placenames, Lowercase. 3) It helps if you give us everything you know about the person. Tell us the places you have looked and found them (census, etc.) It is pointless others repeating where you have already found them. 4) Try and keep your message brief, but complete. 5) Always read through your message before you send it. Are there any typos? Dates correct? Names spelled correctly? 6) Make sure they were in the geographical area this list covers. We aren't here to search the whole country for you. 7) Don't leave the list immediately after posting or you might not receive your reply. 8) It is always polite to thank those who have helped you, but please send a private message directly to them. 9) And finally - be nice.
