Hi Brenda Thank you very much for your advice and the trouble you have gone to. The only shipping record I could find for a Mary Ann Elliot was in 1870, arriving on the "Percy" into Melbourne which is where she married my great grandfather Alexander Stewart in 187...she was a housemaid and had been engaged by a Mr. Bradshaw in St. Kilda but it only showed she was from Ireland. Mary Ann's marriage record in Victoria showed her parent's names and occupation and that she was from Armagh, Cty. Armagh....it appears Victoria do not show time in the colony as NSW certificates do. Her death record, again only showed her parent's names and she was from Armagh, Ireland. I had not come across the Richard Elliot in Tannaghmore South, townland in Shankill Parish for which I thank you immensely. I have ordered many films from our local LDS centre but as I had no idea where in Armagh they may have come from did not know where to start to look for films. That's great thank you I shall see what I can find on Shankill PR's. Cheers and thanks again. That should show what County in Ireland she came from. > Her death certificate should show how many years she lived in Australia and possibly where she was born & names of parents. Marriage certifiate should also show place of birth, usually county but occasionally town as well. By cross checking these its possible to decide if this is your relation. > Certificates for Victoria are $17.50 each and can be downloaded online. Just google BDM from Australia and the government website comes up. I checked the LDS website to see what parish records for Armagh exist and found the following > Parochial registers of Shankill, 1822-1881 > Catholic Church. Parish of Shankill ( Armagh). > Baptisms, 1822-1865 from Lurgan; baptisms, marriages and deaths, 1866-1881 from Shankill. > FHL BRITISH Film 926089 > Other church records can be found using keyword search - "church records Armagh" > Films can be hired at LDS centres and cost about $5 per film which you need to view at one of their centres. Addresses and opening hours on their webpage. http://www.lds.org/portal/site/LDSOrg > Richard Elliott was on Griffiths Valuation at > Tannaghmore South townland in Shankill parish, County Armagh. > Hope something here helps. > Regards > Brenda in Melbourne
