Hello, Maybe you can provide some direction in finding any information about John Ferrigan of Ireland born abt. 1833 somewhere in Ireland. My online research suggest possible North Eastern Ireland based on the number of Ferrigan's households in each county in the "Primary Valuation" (property survey of 1848-64 listed at: www.ireland.com/ancestors/surnames/index.cfm. The three counties of Armagh-1, Louth-1, Monaghan-5. John entered the USA in the District of Philadelphia - Port of Philadelphia in 1844 (according to his naturalization papers). Patrick Ferrigan was the sponsor for John becoming a US citizen in 1858. Was Patrick his brother or cousin? All US federal and Pennsylvania records indicate John was born in Ireland. Although, it does not specific the exact location. I have reviewed the US federal ships manifest list for 1844 and found no names even remotely similar in spelling. I have looked online at the emigration list from 1811 to 1851 and found no Ferrigan's at all to any port in the USA. I will be traveling to Ireland in May and June of 2008. The more information I can locate before my trip the better. Maybe, I can locate my maternal great, great, great grandfather and where he lived.
