They were both born in Ireland and emigrated to Nova Scotia prior to the birth of their first son in 1841. My great grandfather, Andrew, was born in 1847 in Kentville, Kings County NS (St John's Roman Catholic Chrch, Windsor NS). I am wondering if my James might be a brother to your Hugh McKenna? There are family references to James' father being Hugh Mckenna. James and Jane stayed in Nova Scotia about ten years then moved to Illinois and finally settled in Iowa. I heard from a distant relative that James had a brother John who stayed in Canada. There was also a Mary McKenna in Nova Scotia at the same time whose three year old son, George Monahan, was baptised in 1846. She was married to Edward Monahan.
