Author: aljepeka131 Surnames: Dynes News Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.arm.general/3549.4.2.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: For everyone, Here is the phone number for Seagoe(St Gobhans) Church of Ireland parish office 028 3835058 (I think the international code is 0044 and then you have to omit the 0 before the 28). The office has copies of the registers. It is only open weekday mornings to my knowledge. For Gail, I was on the phone earlier with a clergyman from the Roman Catholic faith from the parish of Seagoe(Derrymacash church, Aghacommon)To my knowledge it is the mother church of Seagoe parish for the Catholic faith or at anyrate it was in the 1800's. I've to ring him on Monday for an appointment to see his records. Most of my relatives are in the C of I records which I got in the Iish research Library in Armagh City and in the office mentioned above but I have to check out some burial details in the chapel in Aghacommon. Were your Dynes connections C of I or RC? I noticed in a previos post you had on the net (perhaps not this site) that you mentioned a Valentine and other siblings of Mary Jane. The News surname does sound as if it is RC and not C of I. If they came from Silverwood townland (there are 3 News' listed as living in Silverwood on the griffiths valuation in 1864)I would suspect that they would be found in the RC records. Mail me if you want and I will see what I can d! o to help. This is a busy time of year kids returning to school etc... but I hope to go to this Chapel next week if the priest permits it.
