I'm very new to N. Ireland research, and am getting a little confused so any advice/help appreciated! I'm researching the DUNVILLE family from Belfast, Larne, Lurgan areas. I understand that there is little census information available - is that correct? Is the 1901 census searchable online like the 1901 England & Wales? If not, how accessible is the census? I am very interested in obtaining a marriage certificate for David DUNVILLE and Mary ENGLISH. I know that they were married on 19 March 1887 in Portadown - but I don't know at which church. Is it correct that I cannot obtain a copy of the certificate unless I can establish the church? I understand that both parties were Protestant so would this indicate a particular church in Portadown? And how about Parish Register information - how freely available is this? David DUNVILLE was apparently born in Lurgan in 1868 and he had a brother William, also born in Lurgan. Would the parish register information be available and if so, where? Thanks for advice! A Williams bashstreet.kid@virgin.net
Hello..........As mentioned by a previous list member, 1901 census are not available yet online, but are available on film through the LDS FHC. Further, there are many extracts of baptisms, marriages and deaths from Irish churches filmed and available through LDS FHC. There is also most of the civil registrations filmed and also available. It takes time to read film, but it is interesting and one can learn much.......Syl ----- Original Message ----- From: "A Williams" <bashstreet.kid@virgin.net> To: <NIR-ARMAGH@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 29, 2007 8:45 AM Subject: [ARMAGH] Newbie - Advice Required > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to NIR-ARMAGH-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
