My father, who was born in his house and grew up living with his grandparents always said his grandfather was of Irish descent and emigrated to Troy from Australia where he was born. However, after much research, all his Troy records say he was born in Ireland. One of his sons found he was from Co. Armagh but listed his mother as Mary Todd on his death certificate. When I hired Armagh Ancestry to research the family, they came up with his mother being Mary Fox (same townland that family had with Mary Todd and same birth year). Last Fall, I went to Belfast to research the church records myself and confirmed the mother of the George Campbell born in Derrylard, was Mary Fox. The relatives who did the original research, are no longer living so don't know where they got Todd. There is supposed to be a family bible around but haven't found where. The object of this long piece, is there are still some loose ends in my Campbell research and one of them is where did Australia fit in all of this. I have searched some records in Australia looking for a George Campbell but so far none fit. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
