Hi Pat. (O)Toole - this is one of the great Leinster septs.Originally of Co. Kildare they moved to Co. Wicklow after the Anglo-Norman invasion and held their own there for five hundred years. There was also a branch in Mayo where... there was also a distinct sept, an offshoot of the O'Malleys. (MacLysaght: The surnames of Ireland). Does this help?
