I have been working on Hearth Roll records and am frequently baffled by townland names. They differ considerably from those in seanruad.com or other contemporary records. Is there any index that matches them up? I am particularly interested in two from the Barony of Ardmagh: Ballyduffe & SherranmcAghully. There are 3 OLLIVER family members living there & I am trying to make sense of the OLIVER part of my family tree. So far, I have managed to put the Barony of Ardmagh records into a MS Word table and am trying to now sort them into Parishes (although I recognize that several parishes were carved out of older ones in the 1700s). Hope there is a more knowledgeable person out there than I am!
