    3. Hello Ron, Thanks for your reply re George LAVERTY. I am just guessing that he might have been a soldier. George, born ca 1782, arrived in New Brunswick, Canada abt 1816 with son, William b. 1815. Immigration records dated 1846 for William when he moved to Maine give only Armagh as his birthplace. I have not been able to find them in Armagh records. The name is more common in Down and Antrim. I have seen a listing for a John Laverty who served with the Royal West India Rangers which was disbanded. In 1819, 600 of these men arrived in Saint John, New Brunswick. They were offered land in NB or £10. cash. Unfortunately John took the cash or I might have been able to check NB records for him. I hope there are other researchers looking for this elusive LAVERTY family.
