I am also seeking any army papers for a Robert Fitz, no idea what regiment but the following suggests he was the paymaster for a regiment in Ireland. He was sent to Australia with Bligh in 1806 to serve in the colony as Deputy Commissary to NSW as claimed by Evatt in his book "Rum Rebellion" in which he states that while Fitz had been a paymaster of another regiment in Ireland he had absconded ," taking with him a considerable portion of the property of the regiment." Are paymasters included as part of normal personnel? The following seems to show that he did not get a pension . Mr Robert Fitz- Deputy Postmaster at Windsor 8 March 1828 had a salary consisting of 5 per cent of amount of postage collected- registrar at Windsor 5 December 1827 170pound 13s 6d Clerk to the bench at Windsor 29 September 1816 150 pound( not in receipt of naval or military pay or superannuation or retired allowance.) regards Debbie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
