Author: lindagregory1485 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.arm.general/9811.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My maternal great grandfather was a Thomas Cordner who was a stonemason and his father was called John. His second wife was my great grandmother called Hannah nee Watt and her father was a farmer called Samuel Watt. The witnesses were a Thomas Sinton and Mary Cordner. They married in 1872 in Newtonhamilton and had 5 children one of whom was my grandmother Martha who was born in Ballylane Markethill in County Armagh. When she married my grandfather George Reid in 1915 their witnesses were her sister Jane Elizabeth Cordner and also William James Watt. My mother's second cousins were born in England but brought up by their grandmother Hannah cordner nee Watt in Portadown and their father was Leonard Cordner who was born in Cumbria but I havent managed to fathom this out, he may have been from Thomas Cordner's first marriage. I dont think that Thomas Cordner or Hannah Cordner ever lived in England. There is a connection with Whitehaven and Barrow in Furness but I don't know i! f and how they are related Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
