I am the grand-daughter of John Rice (who was born after the 1901 census) who was married to Augusta (Gussy) Rice and who lived in Ballyshiel, Clare Tandragee. My grandfather John Rice was the son of John Rice, the blacksmith (my great grandfather) and they lived in the first house beside the river in Clare village. It is still there today. John & Gussie Rice had 8 children - Ann, Tony, Jim, Deborah, Gwen, Sally, Noleen and Clifford. Clifford died in his teens. My mother was Gwen Rice. Those who are still alive are Jim, Deborah, Gwen, Sally and Noleen. My mother was very interested to read your thread. She was wondering what your (Pat Strickland Porter) connection was. She too would be interested to know more about James Rice, if you have any information, as we understand he left Clare quite early on and never really returned. I look forward to hearing from you.
