    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: margaretabrookes Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.arm.general/3735.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello, My great grandfather was Charles Porter, born county armagh approx 1835. He married in early 1858 at Drumbanagher where his new wife's family seem to have been parishners. They came to Australia in 1858 to Melbourne on the 'Tornado'. In approx 1861 an Alexander Porter also came to Australia on the 'Tornado'. He was apparently born in 1842 and then an Isabella PORTER came out here also on the 'Tornado' in approx 1862 - she was born in 1846. This does suggest they were siblings to come on the same boat and to the same city as Charles, however neither Alexander or Isabella are ever mentioned again - perhaps it was just a holiday?. Charles says on certificates that his father was James PORTER a farmer. He says his mother was Roseanne PORTER. Probably a different PORTER family but thought it was worth mentioning?? regards Margaret Brookes. Melbourne. There never appeared to be any others in our PORTER family in Melbourne - perhaps they migrated somewhere else? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
