Author: jaggenes Surnames: Quinn Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.arm.general/9772/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My g-g-g-uncle Neil Quinn was a Ribbonman who was convicted, along with Brian Grant and Patrick Coomey, of the murder of Thomas Bateson on 4th December 1851 at Killygola in Co Monaghan. The three men were publicly executed outside Monaghan Gaol on the date given above. Neil was an uncle of my g-g'father whose name was also Neil Quinn(1843-1932). It is believed that he was about 25-y-o when he died. It is known that he was married, as his wife was reported to have visited him prior to his execution, but I don't know whether or not he had children.
