An Alexander STITT also shows up in Thomas Directory of Ireland, 1852 as Stamp collector at Newtownhamilton), County Armagh, by Jane his wife, daughter of Dr. John Harvey of Crossmaglen and Freeduff, County Armagh, who joined the Confederate army in 1862 under Gen. Stonewall Jackson; born at Crossmaglen and baptized at Creggan parish church, County Armagh; married at Drogheda, County Louth, 15 August 1881. They had three children: Abraham Richard Palmer born at Athey, County Kildare, 6 April, baptized at St. Michael's parish church, Athey, 12 April 1883.
