    3. Hi Ella I did not know you were connected to Clarkes. I am friendly with a branch of the Clarkes from Cortamlet. They were known as the 'Washland' or Whitesland' Clarkes depending on which of them you talk to. They have lots of connections with people just over the border in Monaghan I went to a conference in Monaghan a few years ago about emigration and it seems that most Irish people went 'over' to folk who were already in a place ie. they followed on after neighbours/friends/relations. I did not know about the Clarke family connection in Ulster County but then all the Clarke's I know are still about south Armagh When are you coming up around this area again?
