    3. On July 11, 1878, my Great Grandmother, Mary Murphy Crawley (Crolly), widow, married John Carroll of Belleek. Church marriage record shows the Parish/District as Newry/Mourne in County Armagh. Witnesses were Owen Callaghan and Bride's sister, Ellen Murphy. In the notes section it stats Forkhill Roman Catholic by License Rev. J. McCann. John Carroll is listed as an unmarried Farmer of Belleek. Over the age of 21. His father is listed as Nicholas Carroll. Mary Crolly is listed as a widow over 21 of Carnakilly. Her father is listed as Edward "Pat" Murphy. On July 15, 1879 Mary Murphy Crawley (Crolly), Carroll, widow marries Henry McCann. I would like to find out what happened to John Carroll, obviously since the next marriage certificate says that Mary is widowed again, John must have died. I would love to find out something about his family and when he died and wher he is buried. Thank you, Maureen Sausen Lincoln, California USA

    3. Hi Maureen John Carroll was born May 1829, the son of Nicholas Carroll and his wife Biddy McParland of Belleek. He had two brothers and one sister. So he was pretty old when he maried Mary, he was aged approx. 58. I live close to Belleek and will check if his headstone is in the graveyard there. If so I will send a photo to you. . Mary was from the townland of Carnacally. Carnacally is in Forkhill Parish and Belleek which borders unto Carnacally lies in Loughgilly Parish. So even though they were in two different parishes they may only have lived 'accross the fields' from each other. If you want any information on the Murphy family get back to me Pauline www.irishhomesteads.com On Mon, Feb 15, 2010 at 8:51 PM, Dave and Maureen <[email protected]>wrote: > On July 11, 1878, my Great Grandmother, Mary Murphy Crawley (Crolly), > widow, > married John Carroll of Belleek. 3. Hi Maureen I just checked for John Carroll's headstone in Belleek graveyard. I found it. His death is given as 12th January 1879. So your great grandmother married before he was dead a year if your information is correct. I shall go back up to the church with a camera and get all the details for you. It is a beautiful white cross, better than most in the graveyard. John Carroll obviously had a brother married as a niece is on the stone too. Lots of family details and easy to see. His family still live here and I'm sure some of them would like to get in touch I shall get the photo to you hopefully this evening, if not then within the next few days Pauline www.irishhomesteads.com On Mon, Feb 15, 2010 at 8:51 PM, Dave and Maureen <[email protected]>wrote: > On July 11, 1878, my Great Grandmother, Mary Murphy Crawley (Crolly), > widow, > married John Carroll of Belleek.
