    1. Re: [ARMAGH] Looking For Humphries & Livingston near Armagh
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: donkeywrangler Surnames: Humphreys, Humphries, Carlisle, Closum, Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.arm.general/9349.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm also looking for Humphreys, perhaps spelled Humphries, in County Armagh. A cousin gave me research showing a Phillip Humphreys born around 1694 in County Armagh. He married Sarah Closum, infomation unknown. They had at least one child, John, born 1721, who married Margaret Carlisle. They had several children...David, William, Alexander, Nathaniel, and Mary. My line descends from William (1745 in County Armagh). He married in the USA in 1780, and died in Blount, Tennessee in 1843. Please let me know if you can help me verify any of this information, as I have no supporting documents. I'm returning to visit Ireland this summer (July 2010) and would love to visit the area, if I can secure knowledge as to where the area my ancestors came from is located! 3. Hi Just looking at those two family names makes me immediately identify the area of Armagh as Tartaraghan Parish, an area known as The Birches in north west Armagh. Humphreys is still a common name there today Pauline www.irishhomesteads.com On Sun, Feb 14, 2010 at 7:11 PM, [email protected] < [email protected]> wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: donkeywrangler > Surnames: Humphreys, Humphries, Carlisle, Closum, > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.arm.general/9349.1.1.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I'm also looking for Humphreys, perhaps spelled Humphries, in County > Armagh. > > A cousin gave me research showing a Phillip Humphreys born around 1694 in > County Armagh.
