There's no comprehensive database of all baptisms. You need to search church by church. And few of the records are on line. I looked in Griffiths Valuation and it only has one William Taggart in Co Armagh. In 1864, he rented a house and 11 acres of land (split into two different lots - 9A & 9B) in the townland of Grange Lower. He also sublet a number of properties to other tenants. Grange Lower is to the west of Portadown. It's on the modern B131 road. www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml If you have no other leads on where your Taggart family came from in Armagh, it might be worth investigating this family, in case they are yours. It's difficult to say for certain which church they would have attended. Local enquiries might be necessary. The records of the local churches have mostly been copied and are held in PRONI in Belfast. You can order copies of most of the microfilms in to your nearest LDS library. www.proni.gov.uk/index/research_and_records_held/catalogues_guides_indexes_and_leaflets/online_guides_and_indexes.htm Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
