Author: hremom Surnames: Howley/Robinson Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.arm.general/9980.1.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My great grandfather was Martin Howley and he married Mary McGowan around 1874 in Co. Mayo.My grandmother Maria(Mary) was one of ten children--she and all surviving sibs emigrated to the US except the youngest,Margaret, who married(Conlon) and remained on the farm. They lived in Ballywinchy(Balla-win a her) near Kiltimagh. It was later called Cloondolaugh (?sp). My grandmother settled in Chester,Pa.(circa 1896-1900) She met and married another Co. Mayo native--Francis(Frank) Robinson in 1902. Two sisters,Ellen(Patrick Cannon) and Annie(Thomas or Joseph Garvey) also settled in the area. Another sister,Theresa died around 1915 at age 27 in Chester,There were two brothers--Michael emigrated and lived with my grandparents for a time but don't know what became of him.Patrick never married and lived in the area also Florida and Arizona. There were other sibs-an older brother John that I'm guessing died in infancy, younger sisters,Bridget , Catherine and an unamed female born around 1880 that I have no info on other than a birthdate and assume died in infancy/childhood. If any of this sounds familiar-would appreciate hearing what you know.Would like to find out more about my great grandparents --all I have are names and a possible marriage date. Also am interested about my grandmother's sibs and anything about the Howleys in Ireland/America. I believe Byrnes(Burns(, Murtaugh,Killgallen may be cousins or close family friends) Thanks Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
