I suppose it is possible that James and George Mitchell are brothers, though their ages are about 14 years apart. George both lived and died in Glasgow in 1855. So they may have been in the same area. Did the marriage witnesses on James' marriage certificate bear any relation to James? Do you know where in Glasgow James lived? George apparently lived at 14 Marshall St, Backland when he died, and several other places nearby before that, per this poor relief record on his wife Jane, filed shortly after his death in June, 1855: 18 June 1855, application 41457, Glasgow Poor Recs.: Janet McNaught Mitchell, res. 14 Marshall St., Back land, One Stair up and 1st left door with Mrs. Thomson; country of Birth New Cumnock; wid., ae 32; Children and coffin, etc., for husband; dependants; Samuel 7 yrs., Wm. 5 yrs., John 9/12 yrs.; settlement New Cummnock; "Applicants Husband George Mitchell 34 Years a Labourer born in Ireland died on the 18 Currt his Complaint was Consumption he was unable to work for 4 Mos. before his death"; Res. in present house, Glasgow, 21 das.; Before in Pontick, Barony, 1 yr. 9 mos.; Before in Macalpine. 1. [ARMAGH] New work on Silver Bowl
    2. Sharon Oddie Brown
    3. I have recently focused on the 17th & 18th century English settlers in Ireland, in particular JACKSONs. Their families moved about and settled in virtually every county in Ireland. Often they used Ireland as a stepping stone to America, Canada, Australia or anywhere else they saw greener pastures. I have parked them all in about half a dozen trees, and posted them to my web site. They helped me see to see new links between Carlow and Tyrone, for example, that I would not have otherwise known about. Likely readers will notice others. I have just posted the third of three pieces that I did on my blog about this work. For those of you who want to cut to the chase and just get the links to all the new records I have posted as a result, just click on the third one. If my process interests you as well, check out the first two as well: The first is about my experiences of learning from family crests: http://sharonoddiebrown.blogspot.com/2011/07/crests-and-coats-of-arms-1st-in-small.html The second focuses on the Red Hand of Ulster and the red hand in baronial crests (hint: not the same) http://sharonoddiebrown.blogspot.com/2011/07/arms-and-red-hand-of-ulster-2nd-in.html The third focuses on the new trees that I have cobbled together http://sharonoddiebrown.blogspot.com/2011/07/sheldrake-and-other-elements-3rd-in.html As always, there will be more to learn. I will update the pages as I go. Let me know if you spot errors. It is how I learn. Enjoy, Sharon PS I have also updated my database at rootsweb - it is called silverbowl . There are now more than 9,700 records, most of which are reasonably documented. -- Sharon Oddie Brown, Roberts Creek, BC, Canada. History Project: www.thesilverbowl.com

Not sure about the McNulty's but that information will be easy to find. James Mcshane's other relatives will know. There is one lady who is very old. I am sure it is Maggie Ann Waters and Kathleen is in touch with her. My son was doing the family tree and I did talk to her. Noel (my son) had it all specially hand written. We can now continue!! The McShane line was short. Our mother Rosena Quinn was from just down the hill and next to McCreesh's and was related to the them too on the wife's side. When you email give me your phone number and I will ring . It is very cheap from hers. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have sent both of you Patrick's WW1 picture. On the back of the picture is inscribed "G & H Bunce Photographers, Westway, Caterham Surrey." It is wonderful to have found you at last. My son learned to drive last year and the person who owned the business was born in Northern Ireland. Every time I scheduled a lesson for my son, I had a million questions for this lady and one of her suggestions was to put something on Ancestry.com. I am glad I took her advice. It would be nice to visit the family gravesite and to meet everyone. We actually have a cousin leaving for Ireland next week, but she will be flying into Shannon and going South. She is Kate's greatgrandaughter. My very best and love, Maria XX Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
