    1. [ARMAGH] Cladymore Presbyterian Church
    2. Hi, Listers, I am searching for the location of records for the Cladymore Presbyterian Church, Kilclooney Parish. I wrote the church several years ago, and was informed that they were being scanned. I have written the church several times recently, and have received no answer. I will be in Ireland in October, and would like to view the records. Is anyone familiar with this church, who could put me in contact with the minister, so that I can make arrangements to visit the church? Thanks, Kathy K. Pittsburgh, PA

    1. [ARMAGH] Updated Irish Gleanings web page - Connecting people to townlands in Ireland
    2. Sheila
    3. This month, I have added extracts of names, dates and locations from 700 more US emergency passport applications and from 177 'Irish in England' documents. I select the documents with people having a connection to Ireland. The documents were filed in the American consulate records for Liverpool and Newcastle upon Tyne. The site is at http://sites.google.com/site/irishgleanings/ These records exist for only a small number of Irish people and only for limited years. Use the search function of the web browser to locate names and places. If you don't find your ancestor, search for their brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles or cousins. Hope this helps your search. Regards, Sheila

Author: elwynsoutter1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.arm.general/10027.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Griffiths Valuation records that in 1864, an Arthur McConville was renting a house and small garden in Maphoner townland (parish of Forkhill) from a Peter Rafferty. The house was on plot 52a which is near Sparrowhill Bridge on the Bog Road, off the modern B134 Longfield Rd, a mile or two north of Forkhill. It'd be easy enough to locate today. Arthur appears to be Peter McConville's father. www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml Peter appears to have married Catherine in 1868. There is a likely marriage listed on several pay to view sites. Father listed as Arthur McConville on one I can see. There's an abstract (summary) of a will listed for a Peter McConville of Meighfoner (Maphoner) listed on the PRONI wills website: McConville Peter of Meighfoner county Armagh farmer died 13 March 1937 Probate Belfast 28 November to Thomas Nugent farmer. Effects £15. Effects £15 0s 0d http://applications.proni.gov.uk/DCAL_PRONI_WillsCalendar/WillsSearch.aspx You'd need to contact PRONI, Belfast to get a copy of the will. 3. To listers requring historical maps at no cost (besides bandwidth!): Go to the link below: http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml You will need to enter at least a surname and a county & enter. Then select "Show map in new window" for the selected record. The sliders at the top right allow you to see the modern map, the satellite image or a hybrid with the historical map superimposed. The zoom & scroll controls are at the top left. Zoom to any size you want. Anything from a whole County to an allotment! The scale is at the bottom left. Printing: If you use their printing option, only the historical map is printed, regardless of what you see on the screen & the image gets a bit scrambled. The solution is to use {Control/Print Screen} to copy the image to the Clipboard. Then open your Wordprocessor & paste with the page in Landscape. If you leave the screen scaling unchanged & play with the sliders at the top right, you can sequentially print the modern map, the historical map & the satellite image to successive pages. If the historical map is printed on paper & the other two on tranparencies, you will end up with a matching set of overlays. Good luck. It has worked well for me. Alan

Meighphoner (sometimes known as Maphoner) lies next door to Mullabawn/Mullaghbawn I have lots of info on various McConville families of the area. I'm away from home at the minute but shall email later. I think we may have a connection Pauline www.irishhomesteads.com

Author: Boosephus Surnames: MOAN, McCONVILLE Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.arm.general/10027/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am STILL trying to find where in Ireland my MOAN family came from before showing up in Albany/Saratoga counties in New York in the 1870's. I have not located any passenger list of them coming over before the 1870 NY census either: Rosana MOAN b. 1813 Ireland (Widow of Patrick MOAN) daugh. Mary MOAN b. 1843 Ireland son Owen MOAN b.1845 Ireland son Arthur MOAN b. 1851. Ireland Hopefully their cousins, the McCONVILLE's, can help me. Siblings, Peter and Rena (Mary Catherine?) McCONVILLE, came to Cohoes, NY to live with their MOAN cousins in 1895 from Ireland. They both went back to Ireland in 1912 to visit. On their return to Cohoes in 1912, Peter (born about 1872) said he was born in Maighfonner, Co. Armagh. Rena (born about 1873-1880) said she was born in Mullabawn, Co. Armagh. They said they have a father (Peter McCONVILLE) and a sister (Annie McCONVILLE) still living in Ireland in 1912. I have been researching my MOAN genealogy for awhile, just not in Ireland yet. Can any research experts help me as to where I should begin? Thank you, Andrew Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: ronnoco100 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.arm.general/10023.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thank you - this is who is possibly my Gt Granddad - Margaret died in 1883 and he quickly remarried Mary Martin and I think Granddad is the product of this marriage but I still can't find him,, all I know is that his parents died when he was 13 and his siblings argued about who would have him so he ran away. If he was the son of a 2nd marriage that took place quickly after their Mother died then they would obviously hold some resentment to him. Granddad said 1 or 2 were emigrating and i know that at least 1 of William's children emigrated between 1897 and 1901 so it fits with what Granddad told us. So it is all circumstantial at the moment - thanks anyway Anne Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. Make sure to check out the Ordnance Survey of Ireland: http://www.osi.ie/ If you use their interactive map, you can zoom in to townland level and click on the "historic" options to see great old maps.
