Found Peter McCann on list of Flax Growers from Armagh, along with a Philip McCann also a James McCann. Could they possible be related? Peter McCann was born in 1807 and Married a Margaret McCann in 1838 according to the record, >From an old letter we understand the Margaret's mother's name was Anne, Appreciate any help. Ann T. Meyer (nee Ann McCann)
Going through my files, I found a copy of the 1827 survey of CladyBEG. It has a large number of Vallellys enumerated, but no Branions or anything similar. I do see, however, that it also lists the divisions of CladyMORE, and one of them is also called Scotch Quarter. Scotch Quarter in Cladymore is even larger than in Cladybeg. I don't have a copy of the Cladymore section of the survey, but I would say that Cladymore is the best bet for where the Branions may have been. You might also take a look at the bog leases and maps on FHL film 258647. Even if he was not a tenant on a farm, he might still have had a bog lease. I'm new to this list and have been trying to locate information on Henry Taylor and family that emigrated to Ontario in 1866. Henry Taylor was a weaver. Canada census indicates he was born in 1821, but his death certificate states death in March 8, 1891 in Esquessing, Ontario at 75 years 4 months 29 days. This would make his birth 1815/1816. The death register shows " CountyDown, Ireland" as his birth place. The informant was his son in law William Pitt of Esquessing and so I would think the death information to be accurate. Henry's wife was Grace ?? b. 1825 according to the Census and born in Ireland. Children of Henry and Grace William b. 1852 Ireland m. Eliza Nesbit 16 Nov 1881 Esquessing,Halton,Ontario Elizabeth (Mary) b. 1854 Ireland m.Isaiah Halladay 24 May 1877 Esquessing, Halton,Ontario Grace b. 1858 Ireland m. William Pitt 18 Feb 1885 Esquessing, Halton, Ontario Catherine b. 1861 Ireland m. George Cooke 2 January 1884 Equessing, Halton, Ontario Abigail b. 1863 Ireland m. Richard Kickley 4 Oct 1881 Esquessing, Halton, Ontario John Henry (Henry) b. 1867 Esquessing, Halton, Ontario,Canada m. Annie Meredith 6 July 1887 Esquessing, Halton, Ontario Marriage certificates show the ages and names of the spouse's parents and religion. Currently have the descendents of John Henry (Henry) Taylor and Annie Meredith Would like to make contact with anyone connected to these persons as listed above. Gloria

Hello, HEATLEY #1 Request any information on an Edward Heatley bc. 18XX married to an Ellen Carr bc. 1831 who had two sons Thomas b. 1855 and William b. 1859. Edward's wife Ellen Carr Heatley was found in Everton,England in 1881 as a widow. A grave site would be tremendous. Thank you for whatever you can do to help me try to discover where Hugh was from initially. Hugh McShane resided in County Down in the Kircubbin region from approximately 1847 until 1891, where he died. Hugh McShane b. 1821 - 1891, married a Mary Close b. 1831- d. 1902, around 1849. Hello, Looking for the source of Edward Heatley b. 18XX - d. 18XX and his wife Ellen Carr Heatley bc. 1831- living in Everton, England in 1881. Reportedly Edward died in Ireland prior to Ellen being picked up in the British census in 1881 at age 50. Her two sons Thomas b. 1855 and William b. 1859 were apparently residing near a shipyard further south. William Heatley left England with his wife in 1881 for the USA, being married to Mary Anne McShane b. 1861 CO Down. Don: Because I've had call to study many of the families who came to this part of the province I know that there were many who came here from Monaghan and Tyrone in Ireland - not a lot from Armagh. Any who came from Armagh seemed to spend a few years near Montreal or that vicinity before coming up here. But those who came from Monaghan or Tyrone came directly here. The Scotch Corner you found could very well be the place. Check to see if there was a Presbyterian Church there (they were Free Kirk here, but I wonder if that was a North American happening? Part of the Presbyterian congregations broke away from the mother church because it was becoming too liberal for their liking - Auld Kirk was another name given to them - they liked the old ways) So check on the Presbyterian Church in the vicinity of Scotch Corner and then see if you can get a microfilm of their records - might be just what you need!!! Hi Peter. I'll keep this in mind. I really don't have a good idea where my family came from other than the County Armagh and Scott's Corner references. I know all (or at least most) of the family that emigrated to Canada but not exactly where they came from in Ireland. Maybe I can connect your Michael Brannion if my ancestors came from the Cladybeg area. My interest is of Francis VALLELY, alias Michael BRANNION, born in Ireland, who was convicted at Lancaster Assizes in 1810 of wounding with a firearm, initially sentenced to hang and which was commuted to transportation for life. He was sent to Tasmania from which time his history is known. My VALLELY forebears are well established at Cladybeg, and by reason of your interest in BRANNION in that area, it indicates a possibility of the use of the 'alias' by Francis VALLELY.
