Hello again Brenda Are the Armagh Griffiths Evaluations available on line please? Hi Brenda Thank you very much for your advice and the trouble you have gone to. The only shipping record I could find for a Mary Ann Elliot was in 1870, arriving on the "Percy" into Melbourne which is where she married my great grandfather Alexander Stewart in 187...she was a housemaid and had been engaged by a Mr. Bradshaw in St. Kilda but it only showed she was from Ireland. Mary Ann's marriage record in Victoria showed her parent's names and occupation and that she was from Armagh, Cty. Armagh....it appears Victoria do not show time in the colony as NSW certificates do. Her death record, again only showed her parent's names and she was from Armagh, Ireland. I had not come across the Richard Elliot in Tannaghmore South, townland in Shankill Parish for which I thank you immensely. I have ordered many films from our local LDS centre but as I had no idea where in Armagh they may have come from did not know where to start to look for films. That's great thank you I shall see what I can find on Shankill PR's. Cheers and thanks again. I don't know if I replied to this one or not,,, I relate to Peter McCann in Upper Kileavy Catholic Parish, Peter was born about 1807 and Married a Margaret McCann in 1838 in the Parish above. They had five children in Ireland before coming to the United States, Peter in 1850 and Margaret with her five children in 1853, They were from Armagh also Newry was mentioned. Address for Baptism was Seafin and one Baptized in Clonium. have no idea who the parents of Peter were, Mother of Margaer was named Anne Also to the Heaney's first I believe in Armagh, then in Galway, and immigrated to the lUnited States, Ann T. Hi Lawrence, I hope you do not mind my jumping on the bandwagon, especially as I have only just joined the Armagh list and haven't even had time to post my own interests yet (or introduce myself). Would it be possible for you to check the "General Directory of Newry 1819' for the name Jennings? I would really appreciate this as I am working on an assignment at the moment on the Jennings name. ( so page number would be relevant too). Will be posting my Jennings details as soon as I can. thank you..... Nicola

My group are from County Armagh, which borders county Down and Newry itself is right on that border. As you know, one tends to amass a lot of peripheral material when searching and very possibly I'll have something which could be of use for you particularly on the O'Hanlon side but maybe also related to Newry. I would be happy to share that with you and who knows maybe you have peripheral info that could assist me? I will take a look tonight when I get home and see if there is anything immediately obvious. In the meantime I know that I do have a copy of the "General Directory of Newry" for 1819. That inlcudes a list of merchants as well as a description of the town. Also I have lists of all the O'Hanlons listed in Ireland in the Griffiths all Ireland survey etc. My email address is lawrence.battersby@hotmail.co.uk. send me your address and I'll send you what I can. best regards Lawrence Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. It's not raining here in Maine -- it is 20 degrees F (1 17C!). It's setting records for coldest, etc. Karen (I'll try again -- you've found it, but you didn't help me find it -- I guess I'll just keep trying. If you can give any help about where that button is, please do. I have found an Amanda Acheson, b. 1835, of Mavemacullen Townland, Ballymore Parish, Armagh. Balllymore Parish is just east of Mullaghbrack parish (in which is Markethill). She married David Wilson, b. abt 1825 of Clare, Ballymore, Armagh (townland immediately north of Mavemacullen). She died in 1896. He died in 1899. Both are buried in the Clare Presbyterian Church in Clare, Ballymore, Armagh. I don't have her parents, although I did see several Achesons in the cemeteries and church records in this area in my searching (1800-1860). The only child I know of is David John Wilson, b. 10 Jan 1866, Mavemacullen, Ballymore, Armagh. (from a baptismal record) Hope this helps in some way. Julie Julie M.
