Thomas was the only son of his father Thomas (b. abt 1765?). Thomas (1788) emigrated to Scotland with all of his children in 1840. Therefore, there would be no direct Wilson descendants from Thomas (1788) in Armagh. I have been researching Wilson's in the Ballymore and Mullaghbrack parishes to try to put families together in the hopes that possible siblings of Thomas (1788) might emerge. I believe Thomas' (1788) father was George Wilson, who shows up on a renter's roll in Mavemacullen about 1765-1770. However, I know nothing of George's family or children. I would love to find any of his children that would be siblings to Thomas (1788). I've not collected Wilson names as far north as Portadown. Did you know any Warnocks or Dougans. They are also families from the Portadown area that immigrated and worked in the silk mills in Manchester, CT. We have relatives in both families and it appears that they married in the 1850s and 1860s and they or their children later on left and went to CT. Hoping you know of some. We have found some of them buried in the East Cemetary in Manchester. My Wilson's worked at the mills for awhile then went on to other things. Robert D. Wilson had a trucking company called RD Trucking. William J. Wilson moved to Oregon and became a sheep farmer, never married. Albert and Samuel both worked for the electric company for awhile. Christine, they called her Tiny, married William England and lived in East Hartford. I had met Albert, my grandfather's twin, once or twice but never any of the others. Never knew their descendants (cousins) at all. We are connected to the Swain family, also in Manchester. That comes from the connection of David and Alexander Wilson. I think I probably know a lot of the "old country" families growing up and just didn't know who they were. There was an old lady named McAdam that lived across the street from me and the Turkington's were good friends of my grandparents. All Portadown (or Armagh) people. My grandfather married Ellen Smith (Smyth). Her family was from Armagh. Her entire family emigrated to Manchester at the same time around 1907. Samuel and Albert were the last of the Wilson's to emigrate, also around 1907. His sister Tiny came in 1899 and I think Robert or William was already here.
