These are our ancestors, We know that Patrick McCann immigrated with his mother and siblings in 1853, never expected to find him back in Scotland, although we did lose track of him until his death, He was widowed at the time, Thank you so much for the reply. Could you tell me when your James was born? Do you know the parish he was from. As you probably know, the name Hughes is very common in Armagh, and the name James is also used often. My James Hughes might have been the son of Joseph Hughes of Middletown, Tynan parish, in Co. Armagh. This is a tenuous hypothesis at this point. He was born c1815 and emigrated to Stockport, England. I realize some of his children would have been named for his wife's family, but I believe most were Hughes names: James, Joseph, Peter, George, Eliza, Ann, and Alice. I have recently found a Patrick Hughes, that I believe to be connected to my family. I believe his brother was my ggrandfather. My ggrandfather, Henry Hughes, was born in Co. Louth. His siblings include a brother Patrick (born abt 1853) and sisters Bridget, Ellen and Ann (there may have been more siblings, also). Parents of these children were Peter Hughes and Ann Dooley. I have assumed that Peter was also from Co. Louth, however I have just learned that Ann was born in 'Northern Ireland'. Co. Louth borders Co. Armagh--so perhaps there is a connection. Please let me know if any of this coincides with your info. My e-mail is maryfranceshughes@msn.com Thanks. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Would appreciate any help in finding the ancestors of Patrick McCann, s. Next we find him on the Census record for 1860 in Juneau County, Wisconsin, from there we lost track of him until his death in 1908, He was 65 years old and widowed, living with his sister Anne who was also born in Ireland, Died in Mankato, Minnesota, He may have lived in one of the Southern Minnesota Cities, Spring Valley,Houston , or Mankato, May have worked for the Great Northern Railroad as did his brothers Michael,Stephen and John, Ann T. Meyer
