    1. [ARMAGH] Jennings family - Co Armagh
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: southfork138 Surnames: Jennings Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.arm.general/9321/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am just beginning my research. I have letters written by Patrick Jennings beginning 1862. He lived with his brothers, Robert, James & John and sisters, Mary & Margaret in Co Armagh, Dirlet Mountnorris. John died in 1863. I don't know if Patrick, James or Robert ever married. Sister Mary married John Boylan in 1871 and by 1872 had one daughter. I don't think Margaret ever married as there's a letter from her dated 1899 from a Barrack St address in Belfast. Another brother, William, emigrated to USA, Bellefonte, PA. A sister, Allis, married to Owen Martin, emigrated to USA, Philadelphia, PA and died the day after birthing her 5th child, James, in 1865. I would love to know more about this side of my family but don't even know where to begin. Any info/help is greatly appreciated. At the moment, both census are available on film through the LDS F.H.Libraries. See the Library Catalogue online at http://www.familysearch.org to find the number of the film. 3. Hello..........As mentioned by a previous list member, 1901 census are not available yet online, but are available on film through the LDS FHC. Further, there are many extracts of baptisms, marriages and deaths from Irish churches filmed and available through LDS FHC. There is also most of the civil registrations filmed and also available. It takes time to read film, but it is interesting and one can learn much.......Syl ----- Original Message ----- From: "A Williams" <bashstreet.kid@virgin.net> To: <NIR-ARMAGH@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 29, 2007 8:45 AM Subject: [ARMAGH] Newbie - Advice Required > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to NIR-ARMAGH-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >

    3. I'm very new to N. Ireland research, and am getting a little confused so any advice/help appreciated! I'm researching the DUNVILLE family from Belfast, Larne, Lurgan areas. I understand that there is little census information available - is that correct? Is the 1901 census searchable online like the 1901 England & Wales? If not, how accessible is the census? I am very interested in obtaining a marriage certificate for David DUNVILLE and Mary ENGLISH. I know that they were married on 19 March 1887 in Portadown - but I don't know at which church. Is it correct that I cannot obtain a copy of the certificate unless I can establish the church? I understand that both parties were Protestant so would this indicate a particular church in Portadown? And how about Parish Register information - how freely available is this? David DUNVILLE was apparently born in Lurgan in 1868 and he had a brother William, also born in Lurgan. Would the parish register information be available and if so, where? Thanks for advice! A Williams bashstreet.kid@virgin.net

    1. [ARMAGH] Location of "Bush Hill"?
    2. I am helping a friend whose family tradition says that the immigrant ancestor came from Armagh, from "Pete on Bush Hill". The ancestor came in the 1700's so we are talking a long time for the name to be corrupted in the telling here or for the name to have fallen out of use in Armagh. I am especially suspicious of the "Pete" part - if it was spelled Peat it would sound more likely. Does this sound vaguely familiar to any? 3. Hi Pat. (O)Toole - this is one of the great Leinster septs.Originally of Co. Kildare they moved to Co. Wicklow after the Anglo-Norman invasion and held their own there for five hundred years. There was also a branch in Mayo where... there was also a distinct sept, an offshoot of the O'Malleys. (MacLysaght: The surnames of Ireland). Does this help? Don't know how my Catherine O'Toole made her way to Armagh though!
