Hi Anne Anne Gould was 22 years old at the time she married in 1863 which makes her born about 1841. Her father would probably be too old for your Thomas and you say his parents were Richard and Mary Ann McMcDonald whereas hers was James Gould and Mary Jane Lane. There maybe a family link somewhere particularly as it seems that Gould is not a common name around Armagh. Anne Gould's marriage certificate just shows that she was born in Armagh and does not say whether this is the town or county. I wish there was a connection. Hi, To find out where families lived in 1850's look at Griffiths valuation at http://www.failteromhat.com/index.htm and check to see where both names coincided. Just put in a name & county and it will give you a list that you can cross check. What we need are the directories to find out where abouts there are both Gould & Lane and Gould & McDonald together in Armagh towns. I'll have a hunt later. Cheers. I made copies of their records pertaining to Coulters and can confirm the marriage of Isabella Coulter to Robert Guy on 7/10/1864. Her witness was her father, Robb Coulter, farmer. Guy's witness and perhaps his father was Thomas Guy, farmer. Isabella was born on 08/01/1843 to Robb and Sarah Coulter of Tarsan, which is part of Seagoe Parish. Robb was married on 01/03/1842 to Sarah Midkiff, also of Seagoe. I suspect Robb Coulter is Robert Robb Coulter, born 05/08/1798 to Samuel and Isabella Coulter. If this is true is would make him the brother of my 4g grandfather, Samuel. I have been working on Hearth Roll records and am frequently baffled by townland names. They differ considerably from those in seanruad.com or other contemporary records. Is there any index that matches them up? I am particularly interested in two from the Barony of Ardmagh: Ballyduffe & SherranmcAghully. There are 3 OLLIVER family members living there & I am trying to make sense of the OLIVER part of my family tree. So far, I have managed to put the Barony of Ardmagh records into a MS Word table and am trying to now sort them into Parishes (although I recognize that several parishes were carved out of older ones in the 1700s). Hope there is a more knowledgeable person out there than I am! Hi Elizabeth I'm sorry I cannot help you with information towards your travels to Lurgan in July, lucky you, but the name Elliott was of great interest to me as I am also researching this name in Armagh and possibly Lurgan. My great grandmother, Mary Ann Elliot/tt was born about 1846 to Richard Elliot/tt and Mary Cowbray/Carbery in Armagh, Cty. Armagh as per her marriage record in Australia in 1873. Richard was a farmer. I have about 12 ELLIOT baptisms in Lurgan that I transcribed some years ago from 1826 to 1874 if you are interested although I have posted these to the list. I have not been able to find anything on Richard his wife Mary or their daughter Mary Ann in Armagh. Would love to hear from you if you feel there could be a connection.
