Can someone answer my question: I used to send checks (from USA) for photocopies of BMD's in Northern Ireland, when I had the page and volume from the index for that year. Can I still do that? If so, what is the fee for each? I would make my requests at the GRO, Joyce House in Dublin. Also, I have searched all the Northern Ireland Indexes for my surname (MENEELY, MONRO) and have the page number and volume for the period 1870-1900. Are the original documents available in Northern Ireland? They are not available at the LDS Family History Center -- were they burned up? Marian

I am hoping that someone will one day be part of the Hughes family that is mine. It is likely that the father was Joseph Hughes, probably born in the very late 1700's. It is possible the family came from Middletown in Tynan parish. James Hughes, born c1815, emigrated to Stockport, England. Some of the children may have been named for the mother's family. The children (in chronological order) were Mary, Joseph, Eliza (mother's name), Ann, Alice, James, George and Peter. All were born in Stockport, England. There is no indication that any of James's siblings were in the area. Jan janfortado@comcast.net
