I am searching for the family of Bernard Conney (Connay) who was born in Armagh ca 1839/40, married Rosa Mc Farland born ca 1847 and had 4 children in Ireland. They immigrated to US in 1869/70. The children's names were Francis born ca 1866, Barney c 1867/1868, Patrick & Eliza twins born 1869. Rosa had another child born March 1875 when living on Staten Island, NY and Rosa died in childbirth. Child Barney and Rosa passed away in childhood. If anyone has any relatives or researching this name, please let me know. Thanks. Catharine
Hello, Maybe you can provide some direction in finding any information about John Ferrigan of Ireland born abt. 1833 somewhere in Ireland. My online research suggest possible North Eastern Ireland based on the number of Ferrigan's households in each county in the "Primary Valuation" (property survey of 1848-64 listed at: www.ireland.com/ancestors/surnames/index.cfm. The three counties of Armagh-1, Louth-1, Monaghan-5. John entered the USA in the District of Philadelphia - Port of Philadelphia in 1844 (according to his naturalization papers). Patrick Ferrigan was the sponsor for John becoming a US citizen in 1858. Was Patrick his brother or cousin? All US federal and Pennsylvania records indicate John was born in Ireland. Although, it does not specific the exact location. I have reviewed the US federal ships manifest list for 1844 and found no names even remotely similar in spelling. I have looked online at the emigration list from 1811 to 1851 and found no Ferrigan's at all to any port in the USA. I will be traveling to Ireland in May and June of 2008. The more information I can locate before my trip the better. Maybe, I can locate my maternal great, great, great grandfather and where he lived. Does anyone have access to these references listed below in Ireland? PARISH REGISTERS CENSUS RECORDS CIVIL REGISTRATION GRIFFITH'S Valuation TITHE BOOKS Dave BOSTON

They were both born in Ireland and emigrated to Nova Scotia prior to the birth of their first son in 1841. My great grandfather, Andrew, was born in 1847 in Kentville, Kings County NS (St John's Roman Catholic Chrch, Windsor NS). I am wondering if my James might be a brother to your Hugh McKenna? There are family references to James' father being Hugh Mckenna. James and Jane stayed in Nova Scotia about ten years then moved to Illinois and finally settled in Iowa. I heard from a distant relative that James had a brother John who stayed in Canada. There was also a Mary McKenna in Nova Scotia at the same time whose three year old son, George Monahan, was baptised in 1846. She was married to Edward Monahan.
