I enjoyed your website, as my grandfather's grandparents, Samuel HART and Rebecca KELLY, emigrated from northern Ireland to Bishop's Mills, Ontario, probably in 1840, at just about the same time as your ancestors came from Scotland. The photo of the log cabin is very similar to the log cabin my ancestors built (and which is still standing and being lived in and loved by a young couple, not relatives!), so it was fun to see it as an "old" photo. Thanks! Where is Eldorado, Ontario? Bishop's Mills is south of Ottawa, near Merrickville. Thank you so much for the NSW BDM information, Margaret. It was interesting to see Patrick Hollywood there and I will follow that up. I probably didn't clarify that I had Victorian BDM information, but all I can get from the large number of certificates I have acquired is the family connection to Armagh, but nothing to further narrow down the geographic field. I would love to find: Birth information for Ellen Gribben, daughter of Patrick Gribben and Elizabeth Clarke c. 1819 Patrick Hollowood/Hollywood c.1815 Owen c.1847 James c.1849 Patrick c.1850 Arthur c.1851 William c.1848 or later Marriage of Ellen Gribben and Patrick Hollowood/Hollywood Death of Patrick Hollowood/Hollywood probably between 1851 and 1857. Helen, please pardon my ignorance, but you write 'there are many LOL', but I don't know LOL except as the abbreviation for laughing out loud! Thank you both for your interest. Other family members feel Catherine was the youngest in her family. When her father (Thomas) died his farm passed to Caherine's husband (Hugh Quigley)--which is most unusual. I have suspected that if Thomas had sons who survived to adulthood that they well may have emigrated. Marie Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
