You could get access to the Catholice records for 1844-1900 through Armagh Ancestry. For post-1900 records, it looks like civil records would be your best bet, in which case I believe you'd need to go through PRONI. 3. No problem Alison! It's particularly useful as if you try to search for a name in the scanned format, it won't always pick it up due to scan quality. 3. >From failteromhat.... " Pigot & Co's directory goes through the towns of Ireland alphabetically. It lists a detailed description of the town or city, post office information and shows the names of nobility and gentry living in or close to the town. The traders of each town are arranged according to their trade. Pigot & Co's Directory was first published in 1820." I have to say the detailed descriptions of the towns and cities are a great read and give a good insight into the times. Henry Lewis Von Stieglitz, from Saxony (1762-1824) married in Kilmore (?) 20.4. 1802 Charlotte Atkinson, * Crowhill, County Armagh Irland ... 1784 Ballance, Victoria, Australien 22.11. 1852. She is registered as d. of John A., armer and unknown Henderson. They lived first on "Lewis Hill", Cookstown, Co. Armagh and later in the Gortalawry House, Cookstown. After the dead of H.L. the family emigrated to Tasmania and Victoria. The most came back to ireland. Now 1: Does somebody know this Charlotte ? 2: In other threads i noticed a William A. m. with a Henderson, their son Francis married a Eliza, daughter of H.L. von Sleightely (or so), with descendants. This name exists not in Germany, I think this must be a daughter of Henry Lewis von Stieglitz. Can somebody please help me Thanks l.v.stieglitz Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: mac1652 Surnames: Mulligan/ McCann/ McGuire/ McConnell Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.arm.general/9397/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am attempting to find connections to the The Mulligan Family from Mullaghbrack, County Armagh, Ireland. Below is a very breif outline of the family. Robert Mulligan b. abt 1787 Mullaghbrack, County Armagh, Ireland, son of Bernard & Margaret Mulligan (nee McCann) of Mullaghbrack, County Armagh, Ireland. Robert married Ann McGuire daughter of Henry & Elizabeth McGuire (nee McConnell). I am led to believe the Mulligan Family were flax growers in the Mullaghbrack area. Robert & Ann with their seven sons sailed from Liverpool, England aboard the "Argylshire" bound for Sydney, Australia. Eventually settling in the Armidale area of New South Wales. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Margaret Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
