    3. Hi I am trying to trace my gt gt grandmother Jane JOYCE, father John who was a farmer in County Armagh. I have found a John JOYCE at Brackagh, Kilmore parish and also a John JOYCE in Balteagh, Seagoe parish, by looking through the Griffiths Valuations. Is there any way I, or some kind person can check the church records? She was born between 1844 and 1848. She emigrated to New Zealand in 1869. Regards, Carol

    3. Maybe first google 1911 census Ireland and put in your family names such as Lenaghan, Morris, McCoy, McKenna. You will see they all crop up around Crossmaglen. Look at this for a while. Then look up askaboutireland.ie and look up griffiths valuation and again put in a name like Lenaghan, Morris, McCoy etc and you will see them all around Moybane Electoral Division & Crossmaglen Pauline www.irishhomesteads.com On Sat, Feb 6, 2010 at 11:40 AM, [email protected] < [email protected]> wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: eyshasfineart4me > Surnames: > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.britisles.ireland.arm.general/9788.1.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > Thanks, can you direct me please? 2. Helen Atkinson
    3. List subscribers: I am not a BHC descendant, but I am a volunteer working to increase awareness of the 2010 historical significance in Canada by writing to magazines, various TV programmes etc. Descendants & volunteers are also offering their assistance to others looking for their families. The following sites will give you more information re. this news item. "100,000 British Home Children were sent to Canada during the years 1869 - 1948 to work with pioneer families as domestics and farm hands. In recognition of the Home Children's courage, ingenuity, vision & contributions in this forgotten period in Canada's history, the Canadian Parliament (Dec. 07, 2009) has unanimously designated 2010 as the Year of the Home Child. As well, the Canadian Stamp Advisory Board of Canada will issue one stamp in October 2010 in recognition of the Home Children, & The Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism plans to include recognition of their stories in citizenship ceremonies." Alberta Genealogical Society 'Relatively Speaking.' 2010." This topic is not on the school curriculum for students to learn about this period in Canadian history. First is to find their name on the Passenger Lists which might tell which Agent they came with http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/databases/home-children/001015-100.01-e.php you can use wildcards because of transcription errors Join the British Home Children mailing list www.rootsweb.com through Canada - BHC top of the list Accompanying webpage http://www.britishhomechildren.org/ Much of it is free to read but to get into some of the databases you have to register and is a place to add your Home Child's name and story. 3. Hi Pat The 1821 census is available for 23 townlands of Forkhill Parish, Co. Armagh and another townland near Mountnorris. The fields books were around 1994 by a doctoral student in the Church of Ireland boardroom. The actual fields books containing much more material than would actually have made its way to Dublin. This is my home area and I am willing to transcribe any entries if someone wants information on a particular family.
