I've been told that when Patrick Toner first came to Philadelphia he lived with relatives in Germantown, then when his brothers & sister came, he moved to S. Philly. Since he was related to the McParlans, it could be he stayed with them - I need to look further. If anything connects, please let me know - otherwise - I will let you know if I can make this connection. I am just starting to research the Mawhinney family. What I have found so far is from the 1911 census of Lurgan. William Mawhinney age 31 born Lurgan, church of Ireland Catherine wife age 31 born Lurgan had 5 children 4 living Sarah Anne age 10 born Lurgan Maggie age 8 born Lurgan Mary age 4 born Lurgan Catherine age 2 born Lurgan Mary Jane mother widow age 76 born Co Down. I live in the USA and was wondering if there are any online sites that could help me further the family, either pay of free. The youngest daughter Edith not yet born immigrated to the USA probably in the 1940's or so. And also if anyone has any further info or suggestions for this family. Thank you very much Diane _________________________________________________________________ The New Busy is not the too busy. Today as I searched a new (to me) website KIWICELTS administrative divisions of Ireland, I discovered that the family story of my Grandmother born east of Dungannon in Tyrone in a little town of Derrylee was incorrect. It appears Derrylee was actually in Tartaraghan parish in County Armagh. No wonder my searches turned up no clues. So I am looking for Sara A HANNA's family. Sarah A. HANNA b. 9 jan 1866, daughter of Thomas HANNA b. 1838, wife Mary b. 1844. Sarah's sister Mary "May" was born in Derrylee also in about 1869. The family went to New York in 1871 and Sarah married Joseph Russell Walden. If anyone has information on this family, I'd sure appreciate an email, either on this list or at [email protected] I guess I'm starting all over again here. His second wife was my great grandmother called Hannah nee Watt and her father was a farmer called Samuel Watt. The witnesses were a Thomas Sinton and Mary Cordner. They married in 1872 in Newtonhamilton and had 5 children one of whom was my grandmother Martha who was born in Ballylane Markethill in County Armagh. When she married my grandfather George Reid in 1915 their witnesses were her sister Jane Elizabeth Cordner and also William James Watt. My mother's second cousins were born in England but brought up by their grandmother Hannah cordner nee Watt in Portadown and their father was Leonard Cordner who was born in Cumbria but I havent managed to fathom this out, he may have been from Thomas Cordner's first marriage. I dont think that Thomas Cordner or Hannah Cordner ever lived in England. There is a connection with Whitehaven and Barrow in Furness but I don't know i! f and how they are related Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
