John's address was listed as Drumadd in county Armagh and his occupation was listed as a musician. The marriage took place May 11, 1876 at Church of St Marks. John Eason is as far back in the family tree as I have gone and that is all the information I have for him. I am trying to connect our Richard Eason (who married Sarah Irwin in 1813) to other family in Armagh without any success and wondered if you were able to trace your Stephen any further back? There were so few Easons in Ireland at that time that it seems to much of a coincidence. Cheers Carole Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. John had two older brothers William and Christopher and their death certificates state that they were born in Canada. I have no knowledge of where John was born. I have searched as well as engaged a professional researcher to search for any record of a marriage for Sarah Jane (prior to Robert White) or births of any children in Armagh but have been unsuccessful. Robert White was not the natural father of the children and perhaps he couldn't support them and so they were admitted to the Benevolent Asylum. Robert White remarried and had another family. I don't have this family on computer (yet) but am happy to copy and share what I have. Vicky Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. That certainly does put a stop to the US Civil War research my friend was going to do for me. I have so many questions now though, you might regret it! The death certificate that I have for John Alexander states that he was born in 1854 in Armagh, Ireland. Doest hat mean you have something else saying that he was born in Canada? Also, do you know what happened to Robert White? Did he die as well, and that's why children were orphaned? Do you have a digital copy of any of the certificates that you have, that you'd be willing to share with me? I'd love to have a look at them. Thanks, Jess Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Sarah Jane died only a couple of months after arriving in Australia and Baby Robert passed away shortly after that. The information on son John Alexanders death certificate contrasts with his sibling Sarah Rachel who has her father as Isaac Alexander and another sibling Eliza Jane who has her father as William Alexander - hence the problem. These three were all under 8 when they were orphaned and placed into care so perhaps they never really knew. The older children who were at least 8 and 10 must have had some recollection but unfortunately both were loners and the only useful information on their death certificates is they believed they were born in Canada. I have had your opposite problem - I've been trying to find out what happened to Sarah Irwin! I had been told that she died at sea. The name of Sarah Irwin's first husband was Robert John Alexander. I have their son John's death certificate, which states that Robert John was a Military Official ... but that's all I know. Our family story has it that Robert John went over to the US to fight in the Civil War, and died there. I have a girl I know in the US looking this up to for me at the moment, so hopefully she finds something out! Their son John was born in Armagh, Ireland (or so it says on his death certificate) and he spent 77 years in Queensland, meaning that he arrived in Australia when he was 9. There is plenty of stuff about him after that, but it's his parents that I've had real trouble with! Anything you could tell me, I would really appreciate, I've become really interested in this family but it's so hard to find anything. Would anyone know of land records for the area of Drumgor, Armagh in the 1820s. I have a family located there, at least until 1825, and I am trying to find out what records might exist for them. George and Jane Pentland gave birth to their first couple of children in the 1820, while living in Drumgor. They later moved to Derrykeevan. I would assume any Pentlands found in Drumgor about that time would likely be related? I know the land valuations took place, but it seemed at a later time than the 1820s. Any suggestions for possible records to pursue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Roxanna

I believe the name was W.J. Moffett. He had studios in Belfast, Portadown, and Lurgan. We found a picture of a young lady and from her clothing I think it was probably taken in the 1890's. The photographer was Moffett. After the name Moffett are the letters vCo (maybe the "o" is a "z" or a "g" -- it's hard to tell). Then Belfast in large letters, and Portadown and Lurgan in smaller letters. My family lived in Banbridge and Belfast so I am guessing the picture was taken in Belfast. I have no idea who it is though, so I am trying to narrow down when the studio would have been in business. Thanks. Hello, After several years, I am revisitng my McParland/Grimley ancestors in County Armagh. My grandmother, Rose McParland, was the daughter of Patrick and Anne McConin McParland. She was born in Ballard in 187. Her siblings were: Mary (1859), Owen (1861), Bernard (1865), Ellen (1869), Annie (1871), Peter (1872), Rose (1874), Elizabeth (1879), Michael (1885), Terence (1886), Bridget (1888). All immigrated to the US except Mary who married Michael O'Hare. Michael returned to visit in 1923 and died suddenly of a heart attack. He was buried in Ireland. My grandfather, Edward Grimley, the son of Charles and Mary Kinney Grimley of Corlust, was born in Corlust 4/15/1868. His siblings were: Mary Rose (1860), James (1863), Elizabeth (1864), Sara Jane (1866), Edward (1868), James (1870), Lucineta (1872), Charles (1874), Catherine (1879). Edward, Lucy and Catherine immigrated to the US. As far as I know, the others remained in Armagh. Sara Jane married Patrick Cassey in Bessbrook. Rose McParland married Edward Grimley September 2, 1897 at the Church of Carrickcruppia, Lislea. I believe this is now St. Malachy's. One child, Peter, was born there in 1899 before they immigrated to the US. Following their marriage, they lived in Yellow House Row in Newry. Any help in locating ancestors would be greatly appreciated. Pat Grimley mirisola

Over the past month, I have updated many of the footnotes on the deeds and letters on my web site and have also added considerable new material on other pages. The new material can always be found on the "What's New" link. http://www.thesilverbowl.com/misc/whatsnew.htm The date of the updates of previously uploaded documents is recorded beside the item on the appropriate pages - eg "Letters" - then the date column: http://www.thesilverbowl.com/letters/letters.html There are currently over 500 annotated letters and deeds on the site as well as histories, news clippings and family trees. Since my web site is personally funded and managed (not part of a genealogy site - and it only costs me $100 or so to pay the server each year and a few grey hairs to keep it working), this means that you can do a Google site search for anything that interests you. For example, if the name BOYD is your interest, just do a site search for all mentions of BOYD. Bit by bit, I am also doing updates in ways that make it easier to find material (sometimes I can't find things myself). I have also added a few hundred more names to the family tree that I maintain at rootsweb. That is always the most up to date version to check. Links to this are in my signature beneath. As always, if errors are spotted, please let me know and I will attend to them ASAP. -- Sharon Oddie Brown Roberts Creek, BC, Canada History Project: http://www.thesilverbowl.com/ Some Become Flowers: http://www.harbourpublishing.com/title/SomeBecomeFlowers Family Tree: http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=silverbowl
