Searching for information on James McKinstry or his son William. William (born 6 Oct. 1722; died 12 Nov 1795) is said to have been a farmer in Carrickfergus who emigrated to Sturbridge, Mass., USA about 1740. Family lore has it that the McKinstry clan came to Ireland from Scotland about 1650, but I have no evidence to confirm this. Also seeking information on the family of Christopher McMichael (born in Antrim about 1756) who emigrated to Pennsylvania, USA, just prior to the American Revolutionary War. This family, too, is said to have come to Ireland from Scotland, but I have no evidence of this either. --Russell King
