Francis Cowan and Agnes Alexander were married on the 30May1813 in Kirkcolm Parish,Wigtownshire.They had five children born in Kirkcolm,William b.1821,Hugh b.1823,Agnes b.1825,John b.1827 and Andrew b.1829. On the 23Mar1849 in Belfast,William married Elizabeth McCoubry,the daughter of Hugh McCoubry and Mary McMillan.By 1851 William and Elizabeth were living in Eastwood Parish,Renfrewshire,Scotland where they raised eight children.
