I have a Hugh Black. Who was born in Ballycastle in Antrim 17 Oct 1821 to my knowledge. His father was James Black, a farmer. Mother unknown, but would love to know. He received his Masters Certificate in 1848 and was then married that same year to Alice Wilson in Gateshead, Durham. They then had two children in the Channel Islands. At St Heliers I believe. The first child was a girl. The second was James Robert Black, born 27 Dec 1851. After his father had drowned at sea. He was coming back from Canada I believe and was caught in a squall in the Channel. Unfortunately he signed on, on a different ship and it could have been one of three ships in the same storm that were wrecked I believe there could be a definite connection between Hugh Black and Archibald Black who was also a Master Mariner and left Carey, Cuylfeightrim, near Ballycastle to live in St Heliers. Can someone please help me? I await your help. Desperately Thank you. Jeff Davis. Melbourne, Australia Email me at jeffdavis3333@yahoo.com __________________________________ Yahoo!
