Hi list, I have a tough Irish/ Northern Irish Seymour research problem. I have been at this Seymour research for about 10 years now. Slowly, I think I am making very gradual progress. Anyway, I am seeking information about a Seymour family who left Ireland or Northern Ireland in about 1882 or 1883. The parents died on the trip to New York. It is believed that both parents died from consumption (TB). When the children arrived at the port, they were sent to an orphanage. We believe that orphanage to be the New York Foundling Hospital. It is believed that one of the children (Laura) was sent by the New York Foundling Hospital with the infamous Mr. Larry Curran on an orphan train to Iowa. Laura was adopted when she was about 5 years old. I do not know this Seymour family's county of origin or port of departure. I realize that this is a big hurdle. The family was composed of four members: ________ Seymour (Husband) and Fiona _______ Seymour (wife). With them, they had two children Laura Seymour b. abt 1881 (first name may have been something else) and __________ Seymour (a older son or daughter b. abt 1876). I realize that this is not much information. However, just this last year I was given the probable first name of the wife (Fiona). I know that this is a shot in the dark. However, if anyone on the list with Seymour ancestors had a Fiona ______ marry into their Seymour family in about the late 1870s or early 1880s, I would really love to hear from you. Like I said, I know this seems like a stretch. However, maybe someone will recognize some of the scant facts above to make a connection. I wanted to cross reference the Irish/Northern Irish marriage records to find a Seymour on the Groom side and a Fiona on the bride side. However, I have not been able to find the marriage records on a database that will do this. The actual marriage registers only list the name of the marriage participant under the surname. If these marriage records are ever put in a cross referencing index, I might be in luck. Until then, I have to press on with the little bit of information that I have gathered. I would appreciate any help or guidance anyone is willing to offer on this research problem. Thank you. Nicholas
