Haven't got access to the 1861 Census here (Athens, Greece) but have got them in the 1851. Where can I find this online? They sure were Catholic - and still are. Then I have to add that all the smaller Catholic churches sent their records to St. McNissi's Victoria Street in Larne. Are you sure about the McNaughton's. Sounds like a protestant name of the hibernian scots. Anyway St. McNissi's being the nearest and biggest, the next biggest is St Anne;s in Belfast. St. McNissi was named after an apostle of St. Patrick. There is a holy water font in the church from the ancient abby on the Islandmagee. The secretary of the church would be the best one to ask as the priest feels it an invasion of privacy.
