    2. McIlwaine
    3. Hi Pat Thanks for your reply, I have not found a link so far, but have not got a lot just yet. The line I am following is: William Albert Good McIlwaine born 13/11/1925 30 Belgrave Street Belfast (Shankill area) Son of Samuel James McIldoon McIlwaine born 13/10/1889 59 Brownlow Street Belfast (Shankill area) and Mabel Cranston (daughter of Joseph Cranston). Son of Samuel McIlwaine who married Margaret Spence (daughter of Samuel Spence) on 9/1/1880 in Belfast. Son of W McIlwain Its not much, but a start. Samuel McIlwaine and his farther were Tailors. I don't have a lot of information yet on other members of the families. Although I have the names of the children of Samuel James McIldoon McIlwaine. Does this help with establishing a connection? I would love to hear more about McIlwaines, and I have planned a trip to Belfast in October this year to visit with some relatives that I have not met before and don't know much about. I will also be trying to find certificates etc to help find more of the McIlwaines in Belfast. I am happy to share what I find if it helps you. Hope to hear from you. I am interested in McIlwain(e), Cranston, Spence, Goode, Harrison, Morrison in Belfast and Clark, Thomas, Watson, Stephens, Preston, Spurling and Evans with a South Australia, Wales and Cornwall connection. 1. Church Photos
    2. Church Photos on my web site at the link below. Alternatively, type: Jean McCarthy into the GOOGLE search engine for a direct link. I have added two more photographs to the latest church photos page on my web site. These have been kindly donated by James in Sydney Australia. The new photos are of Ryans Church at Finnard near Newry. Very many sincere thanks to James who very kindly shared these photos with us all. I hope to add more photos of churches in the future as and when they are donated for the web site. So if anyone has got any church photos that they would like to see on my web site, I will be very happy to post them. I think it is wonderful to be able to perhaps see the photos of the church where our ancestors were baptised, married or buried. Particularly if it allows some folks who may never get to Ireland to see them in reality. Kindest Regards. Jean McCarthy nee Moore. Staffordshire, England. 1. Map of the Belfast area (S. Antrim, N Down) 1866
    2. Andy Airriess
    3. Listers, There is a map of Belfast and surrounding area that is posted at this web site: http://www.yourmapsonline.org.uk/maps_for_web/Ireland/Belfastareamaster_sm.jpg I have the original of this map that dates from 1866. If there is a piece of it you would like to get a closer look at, let me know and I'll extract it from the map and email it to you. Don't worry, I have scanned the map and the pieces you will be getting are electronic copies. Andy Scissorhands I am not. Some rules: Please give me an good idea as to where the place you are looking for is on the map. Anything will help. I don't know the geography of the area very well, so something like "in line horizontally from Hollywood and straight down from Antrim" would be nice, or "about 2 miles NW of Jordantown" would be helpful too. Please be accurate as possible. Something on the lines of "It is called Ballysomething and it is near Belfast" will not likely end up in a positive result. The text on the map is very small but is all legible. The bigger the place you reference, the better your chance of getting it will be. With so much small text it is sometimes hard to find small places. Please give me an idea as to how much of the area around the place you want. I'd hate to send you something that did not include everything you want. Best yet would be to copy the images and crop out the piece you want a close up of and send me the image so I can get you exactly what you want. All replies will be off list to keep chatter down. There are a couple of other images on the site at: http://www.yourmapsonline.org.uk/ireland.htm that are of Belfast city proper. The one from 1894 is big enough for you to use on your own, but the one from 1886 I can send a bigger copy to you if you want. My grandfather was born one week before the publication date of the image and I can see the house he was born in on York St. in the map. Priceless. Andy Airriess I-56 (My birth year!)

    1. Thomas BOYD in Shankill Parish
    2. The six children of Thomas and Sarah (Sherlock) Boyd were baptized in the Rosemary Street Presbyterian Church in Belfast from 1816-1828. The record says that Thomas was a farmer from Ligoniel (County Antrim). He was b abt 1780. His father was also named Thomas and was b abt 1743. This family emigrated to the USA in 1830. However, the elder Thomas's wife was not with them. I would like to know her name and where she might be buried. Sarah Sherlock Boyd was from Killead Parish, County Antrim. 3. Many thanks for your response. The best of luck in your Family History research Chris -----Original Message----- From: Eleanor Strain [mailto:Eleanor_Strain@hotmail.com] Sent: 15 April 2005 09:01 To: NIR-ANTRIM-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [Antrim] Posting my interests Hi Chris, I got the information from my Margaret's daughter death cert. Daughter Mary McRoberts was born c1835, so unlikely to be the same Margaret Wallace. She could be related to your Margaret, as they are from the same area, but unfortunately that's the only information I have on her at present. Should I find out any more which might indicate that they are related, I'll let you know. best regards, Eleanor ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris" <chris@masquerade.demon.co.uk> To: <NIR-ANTRIM-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 14, 2005 11:43 AM Subject: RE: [Antrim] Posting my interests > Eleanor, > > I'm interested in a Margaret Wallace, born Ballymena circa 1834.
