I am new to the list and trying to find any information re: marriage, parents etc for: William Wilson & his wife Sarah Lewis Children: James Wilson b. Jan. 1840 Thomas Wilson William Lewis Wilson b. 1847 (give or take a year) Daughter Wilson Daughter Wilson A few members from my family mentioned Portadown, but we only have documentation that states that they were both from Armagh. The family emigrated abt. 1853 and went to Canada (Mono Township, Ontario) I would appreciate any help regarding finding information about this family. Is there an Armagh Website with on-line records? Regards, Maureen Canada

Hello - Below is everything I know about my family connections in Ireland. I would appreciate any help or guidance you could give me in locating them. I live in Canada. Thanks. Pete Dady Their marriage record says that James ERVINE, 21, married Mary LYONS, 19, on 8 Nov 1851 in the town of Lisburn, County Antrim, Ireland. Protestants, I assume. The husband's father was Andrew ERVINE; the wife's father was James LYONS. At some point, seemingly between 1861 and 1871 they moved to Scotland. I can't find them in the 1861 Census in Scotland. Census of 1871, in Back row [?], Slamannan, Stirling, Scotland: - James IRVINE, head, 39, coal miner, born in Ireland - Mary IRVINE, wife, 38, coal miner's wife, born in Ireland - Andrew IRVINE, son, 19, pupil teacher, born in Slamannan, Stirlingshire [sic?] - Anna IRVINE, dau., 12, scholar, born in Slamannan, Stirlingshire [sic?] - Jane IRVINE, dau., 7, scholar, born in Slamannan, Stirlingshire - John IRVINE, son, 3, born in Slamannan, Stirlingshire Census of 1881, in Back Street, Slamannan, Stirling, Scotland: - James IRVINE, head, coal miner, 49, born in Ireland - Mary L. IRVINE, wife, 47, born in Ireland - John IRVINE, son, scholar, 13, born in Slamannan, Scotland - Robert McNay, unmarried, boarder, labourer, 35, born in Ireland Daughter Annie IRVINE married Robert FISHER in the Church of Scotland, in Slamannan, Falkirk, Scotland in 1878. The Scottish Census of 1881 says that both were born in Ireland - this disagrees with the Census of 1871, which says that Annie was born in Scotland. I think it more likely that she was born in Ireland; her birth date is known to be 24 Apr 1858 (before the Census of 1861), and she can't be found on Scotlandspeople (nor can Robert). Robert FISHER born 17 Jan 1854, likely in Ireland, to Thomas FISHER (a farmer, deceased by 1878) and Jane HOLLOWS. Robert was a blacksmith, but like Annie's father, he worked at coal mines. Census of 1881, dwelling in Little Bathville Row, Bathgate, Linlithgow, Scotland: - Robert FISHER, 27, head, blacksmith, born Ireland - Annie FISHER, 22, wife, born Ireland - Mary FISHER, 1, born West Calder, Edinburgh [sic?] Scotland - Thomas FISHER, 2 mo., born Bathville, Linlithgow, Scotland

I have had a brick wall for some years as to my Patterson Grandmother and her family from Antrim (Belfast). Although I have a passport for her; I have not been able to find any information about who her parents were. I only know the name of two of her brothers; Samuel and Fred. Margaret Jane Patterson born June 5, 1885 married Richard Elliott Creagen Fred Patterson born in Antrim - emigrated ? - went to Canada Samuel Patterson born 1882 (married to Fanny Unknown and a son (Samuel G.) born 1909 in Antrim. I have found her brother Samuel in Flint, Michigan in the 1930 Census. Apparently he emigrated in 1923. It also says that he was a soldier in WWI. In Canada we have on-line the 'Attestation Papers' which is a great source of information. Are there any websites in Northern Ireland/U.K. where I might find similar information for those who served during that time? I would appreciate any suggestions. Regards, Maureen

Hello Jean: earlier in January I saw your list with the name William Blair, Park st., Belfast. It interested me very much but I don't know how I can check the info. to see if it is my family. Perhaps you answered my earlier query but our computor was down for a while. Thanks Sandra Barker
Hello All, I am a new subscriber to this list, my previous researches being in England and Scotland. I have what could be a big ask. Information I have recently received shows Gordon SMITH, who was born on 27 June 1876 on the Castramont estate, Girthon parish, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland, as living in Belfast in April 1919. He was then 42 years old. The information is on a page which was slightly water damaged following the bombing and subsequent fire/s of the PRO in London during WW2. As best as I can make out the address that is given for him, it is 17 Hills or Wills ... ...denh... Belfast. Would anyone be able to give me any leads as to what part of Belfast this might be in? I have no familiarity with Belfast at all, I am ashamed to say. Gordon was not living with his parents at the time of the 1901 Scottish Census, and I have not been able to locate him in Scotland or England at that time. Perhaps he was already in Belfast. Is there any on-line access to the 1901 Belfast Census which I could check to try and locate him? He would have been 24 years old then. I have no idea what his occupation might have been. His father was a gardener. One brother was a game keeper, another a rabbit catcher. His sisters all went into service. Hoping someone might be able to give me some pointers for getting further information on Gordon. Many thanks, Jenny Gibson, Toowoomba, Australia.

Hi listers, Just reposting my Antrim interests. My gggrandfather was Peter GARVEY b. Armagh abt. 1808. He was a bootmaker by trade. He married Jane ANDERSON b. Antrim abt. 1811. Their children born in Belfast were: Henry b. 1834, Mary J. b. 1837, Margaret Ann b. 1844. 2 more children were born in Liverpool after the family emigrated. These were Helena b. 1847 and Lucinda b. 1850. I'm fairly certain the family was Catholic. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? I would be interested in hearing from anyone researching either Garvey or Anderson in Antrim. Good evening, So the relatives left Ireland for Canada and stayed in the Montreal area. These new directories might help you find them Lovell's Directory of Montreal which has been digitized for the years 1842 to 1930. Other years will follow. http://bibnum2.bnquebec.ca/bna/lovell/index.html The directories are not limited only to the City of Montreal. Heather in rainy Montreal

Hello Jean; I was interested in your head of household list as I noted a William Blair on Park St. who might be in my family. Still being somewhat new to genealogy I wondered what I can do to follow up this fact. I'm also interested in your MOORE data as I have info. on Agnes MOORE WHO married William FORSYTHE in Ballyeaston, Antrim,16/08/1844. They had 10 children. Does this interest you?
