Can someone tell me how I can get removed from this list? Thanks, Kim
I'm researching the BRATTON family from Antrim County. Specifically, I am looking for any information on Andrew and Audrea BRATTON. Andrew Bratton (b 1686) married Audrea Bratton (b about 1690) Andrew Bratton married in Ireland prior to 1712, had at least four sons who migrated to the colonies of America in 1733. JAMES BRATTON, lived in Augusta Co., VA area CAPT. ROBERT BRATTON (b. May 20, 1712, Antrim County, Ireland), (m 1745 to Anne MacFarlane Dunlap, widow of Capt. Alexander Dunlap), (d 1785 in Augusta Co, VA.). Anne had at least four children by her first marriage and at least six children by her marriage to Captain Bratton. Robert was a Captain of Foot in the French and Indian Wars, and maintained that rank the remainder of his life, serving in the VA state militia. He also served on the Council for the Protection of the Virginia Frontier during the French and Indian Wars. WILLIAM BRATTON, (b 1718, Antrim County, Ireland), (m BEF 1742), (d ABT 1780, Augusta Co. VA or York Co. SC). He served as a Sgt. of militia during the French and Indian Wars, was captured and later released. He lived for a time in the area of Augusta Co., VA. but later with at least four sons and their families, moved to the area of Yourk Co., SC. SAMUEL (or ANDREW) Bratton, (b 1716, Antrim County, Ireland), no dates on marriage or death. He lived in Pennsylvania. There is a great deal of conflicting information on this man. Most published information gives his name as Samuel, but research by several people indicate it was probably Andrew.
Thank you for this information. My relatives lived near St. McNissi's church so I just used to say Northern Larne. Now I know not to as it will be confusing. Thank you . Marianne
Actually, Larne is the name of a town on the Antrim coast.. There is no "Northern" Larne. J. McGill
I am looking for descendents of Jane and David BROOKS b 1850's 1860's Children born were Elizabeth d 1923 Maggie b c 1881 Thomas b c 1887 Alexander bc 1889. They lived in the East Belfast area around the census of 1901 1911. David worked in the shipyards as a Chaulker and some of the children in the ropeworks. Here's hoping Judith

Hi Marianne I'll certainly ask - I think old Ben and Elizabeth Crowe had another son (as well as Eileen's Sam and my Alexander) He was John and lived on the Straid Rd in Ballyboley. From what I can decipher from my mother's notes, one of his son's, Thomas George Crowe, married a Haveron - they ran a pub on Shane's Hill (between Larne and Ballymena) This has certainly got me back on the case of the Crowes! Hi Eileen I'm glad I found you. Benjamin and Alice Boyd were my mother's parents. I think Mum has some more info, she remembers all her aunts and uncles - many of their families still live in Co Antrim. I'm afraid I started using Treemaker and then fell by the wayside. I'm really delighted to have made contact and would love to see any pics you have. Again, I must ask my mother if she has any. I'm almost certain that at least one of Margaret Crowe and John Apsley's sons went to Canada when they were very young, but again, I need to check - will be in touch. I've been researching a McDonald family that immigrated to the US in about 1844 from County Antrim. My mother is a McDonald. The family appears to have gotten to southern Wisconsin (Kenosha County, around Wheatland), where several McDonald brothers made land purchases from the Federal government in 1843-44. The family is repeatedly cited as being from Belfast, but of Scottish ancestry. I haven't gotten any further back than these immigrants to Wisconsin in 1843-44, who appear to have been born in the early 1800s. Some in the McDonald family moved further west, settling in Iowa (Horton, Iowa, Bremer County, notheast of Des Moines) and some settling in South Dakota (a McDonald homesteaded in 1893). Would love to stay in touch with you, and see if these lineages eventually cross each other. Would also be interested in finding out if you've heard from others doing research on McDonalds with roots in County Antrim. I am posting this to the list in hopes that someone from the Larne area will be familiar with the name of Adrian. Then I went to irishgenealogy.net. This is the website of Liam McFaul, who lived in Larne most of his life. He has the 1851 census of C. Antrim as it may be. There is an Adrian JANE ADRIAN HOUSE SERVANT AGE 72 BORN IN CO. ANTRIM She was living and working on the outskirts of Larne. If you dig around on this list you may find even more and don't forget GenForum. Marianne in Las Vegas PS If they were Catholic, the records will be kept at St. McNissi's Church in Larne. All of the smaller churches have put their records there.
Unfortunately I am a dummy. The Drains is a hamlet of sorts, just outside of Northern Larne. And dummy me I think everyone can see inside of my mind and know what I am thinking. I am very sorry to have gotten your hopes up. I know how that can be. Have you tried Liam McFaul's list on irishgenealogy.? It wouldn't hurt to take a peek at the 1851 census and list your surname. Marianne in Las Vegas
Would you please ask your mother if she knew the Samuel and Rose STerling Haverons or their children of Balleyboley. This particular family seemed to stay put thru the years. Thank you Marianne in Las Vegas
If the response is of interest to all then choose "reply all" If the reply is only, "Thanks for the info Jon." replying directly will save many of us from wading thru all the personal notes. ----- Original Message ----- From: Eileen Burgess <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, August 12, 2001 10:16 PM Subject: Re: Responding "On-List" > I didn't realize that you had to reply to all! My surname is Glasgow and my ancestry has been traced to Kilwaughter Parish County Antrim, Northern Ireland in 1669. Also the name Ballykeel was listed as where lands were leased by an ancestor. I am trying to find out about the origins of my surname. Or any suggestions on where to look to find this information. I would appreciate any help or comments. Thank you for your time.
